2010 Photo Contest Launched

The Lumber Heritage Region of Pennsylvania (LHR) has launched its 2nd Annual Photo Contest following the huge success of last year’s competition. There are six categories of photographs to be judged - Events/Festivals, Wild Life, Heritage/Historical Sites, Life in the Forest, Scenic, & new this year— A Special Youth Category for photographers 14 & under. There will be three awards in each of the first 5 categories totaling $1250.00. The Special Youth Category will have a single prize of $50. The categories are explained on the application.

Last year the LHR received over 150 photos from all over the 15 county region from photographers as far away as Maine and Florida. “It was very difficult to choose the winners,” said LHR executive Director Mike Wennin, “as the quality of the photos was amazing.”

Applications and information are available on their website at www.lumberheritage.org. If you do not have access to the internet, phone them at 814-486-0213 and the forms will be mailed to you. Last year’s winners are also posted on the website.

The contest deadline is October 12th. Keep your camera at your side this summer as you experience the wonders of the Lumber Heritage Region and the beauty of the Pennsylvania Wilds.

MAPLE FESTIVAL PARADE!!!

MAPLE FESTIVAL PARADE!!!
Dear Friend,
The Maple Festival Parade reflects all aspects of Potter & Tioga Counties,
from antique cars and 4-H Clubs to the DOT litter bug! I’m sure you would agree
that a “great” parade is one that is colorful and comes to life through the
imagination of our own residents.
Participating in the 2010 Potter – Tioga Maple Festival Parade is a cost
effective means by which our local businesses, service clubs, schools and families
can promote themselves, while also contributing to the sense of belongingness for
which rural counties like Potter are known.
We believe so strongly in this concept that each year the Maple Festival
committee allocates a portion of festival proceeds directly to the participants in the parade; depending on the number of marchers and/or type of parade display.
So come join us at one of the County’s most attended events of the year, the
Maple Festival, by returning your Parade Registration form no later than April
23rd! Registrations are also accepted online at www.CoudersportRotary.org.
Hope to hear from you soon!
