Dairy and Livestock Leasing Program

If members are interested in this program this year, they need to have their project plan sheets and lease in to the Extension Office by June 1st. If you would like to take a look at the Leasing Program Description and Rules, please call the office for a copy. Don’t forget these needs to be completed and filed each year. Please make sure you are reading the rules before submitting a lease.

Northwinds 4-H Camp Registrations due June 1

Don't forget Tuesday, June 1 all camp registrations for 4-H'ers in Potter, McKean, Cameron, Elk and Jeffeson counties are due in the Potter Office. Call if you need a form!

Small Animal Essays, Posters and Photos Due June 1

Reminder that the essays for the state wide Small Animal Essay contest are due June 1. Posters and Photos are also due. Rules are below.

Contest.
Calling all 4-H members! It's time to help promote 4-H by making a poster for the State Poster Contest. The contest is divided into Junior and Senior categories. Posters are to be entered in the Potter Co. Extension Office by June 1.

Here are the rules:
1. No copyrighted materials only original work.
2. No boxes or three dimensional materials.
3. Sheets need to be 22" X 14" and be made out of stiff cardboard. Posters that are too large will be disqualified.
4. Horizontal or vertical format.
5. On the back of each poster should be printed: County, 4-H’ers name, address, and age.


Due June 1
State Photography Contest
Get those cameras focused and enter the state photography contest. Photos are to be entered in the Extension Office by June 1.

Here are the rules:
1. Each 4-H’er is limited to one entry.
2. Photos may portray any theme, in a single photo or a series of photos- a picture story- showing “before” and “after” scenes or in a how-to-do-it sequence.
3. Entries may be black and white or color photos.
4. Do not submit copyrighted entries (do not take pictures of pictures or art).
5. Submitted prints must not exceed 8”x10”.
6. The exhibitor’s name, age, county, and address and a short identifying caption must be attached with the photo entry.

Horse ID's Due- June 1

Reminder to all 4-H Horse Members, the Horse ID's are due in the Extension Office by June 1 at the close of business. You can fax them in at 814-274-8540, please call to make sure they have been received. You can mail them, make sure they are postmarked by June 1. And as always, you can hand deliver them. Just make sure they are in on time, no late ID's will be accepted, this is a statewide rule! Forms came with the May/June newsletter and are on the Potter 4-H website under Animal Science and forms. You do not need to turn in shot records with the ID!

Office Closed- May 31

Just a reminder that county offices will be closed on Monday, May 31 in Observance of Memorial Day. Enjoy some time with family and friends!

Showstoppers Presentation Night- Huge Success!

79 people were in attendance Monday, May 3 for the annual Showstoppers Presentation Night. The theme for the night was Hobbies & Hat Tricks. The members had the opportunity to select a topic and prepare a five minute presentation or select a topic from the hat. Those picking from the hat had 10 minutes to prepare a presentation on that topic. Thank you to Cathy Bowers, Judy Baer, Deb Hamilton and Teri McDowell evaluators for the evening. Kudos go to leaders Rose Hershey and Shelia Gabreski on a great night. Congratulations to all of the members on great presentations and thank you to parents and grandparents for your support of the members.

Congratulations Lauren Fair

Lauren Fair, member of Beyond the Horizons 4-H club, placed third in the junior division at the Wildlife Field Day held at Rock Springs on April 17. Congratulations on this accomplishment!

Jr. Livestock Tagging

Don't forget that tagging for sheep, swine and goats is this weekend. Tagging Friday, May 7 from 6-8PM at the Potter County Fairgrounds or Saturday, May 8 from 8-10AM at the Northern Potter High School.
