Join Us for the Winning Ways Clinic sponsored by the Department of Animal Science and the Pennsylvania Quarter Horse Association. The 28th annual clinic will be held on March 8 at Penn State's Snider Agricultural arena.

Pre-registration for reduced rates is due by March 4.

This year's clinic focuses on the development of the young horse and includes practical, hands-on information useful for horses and riders at all stages of training. The program includes:

  • Lecture/demonstration format
  • Developing handling and riding skills for youth and adults at all levels
  • Topics: ground handling and lunging, starting the horse under saddle, work on leads, early collection of the horse, and showing the young horse.
  • Techniques discussed will be relevant for all types of riding.
  • Tips and methods to improve you and your horse
  • Questions & Discussion – Answers to your questions and suggestions for handling problems, changes and challenges for you or your horse

The featured clinicians are Mark Smith, Instructor at the University of Findlay and Brian Egan, Instructor of Equine Science at Penn State. Both are highly experienced and well regarded for their work with young horses and teaching techniques for youth and adults.

A tack and clothing sale and visits to the Penn State horse farm are also available. Participants will be able to see the Penn State Quarter Horse herd as well as horses to be offered for sale in May.
